The essence of the Feldenkrais Method
The Feldenkrais work is a scientifically-based practical method,
providing a code of communication between brain and body, turning
potential into action through the synthesis of movement and
cognitive awareness
The Feldenkrais Method is one of the
most powerful applications available for developing and maximizing
human potential. It implements the use of combined brain
functions and the nervous system, stimulating self-directed
behaviour. This process of learning how to use oneself more
effectively, leads to improved performance, regardless of the
original condition. Over the past 50 years, it has benefited
thousands of individuals, ranging from the physically challenged to
renowned excelling performers. To this end, it is the most
essential and fundamental tool for self-fulfilment and healthy
physical and mental growth.
The
latest research indicates that physiological complaints share
commonalities with other conditions such as cerebral palsy and
autism, all of which appear to involve breakdowns of the brain's
learning patterns. Through carefully directed sequences, the
Feldenkrais Method implemented the principles of neuroplasticity
(the ability of the brain to reorganize and rebuild behavioural and
physiological patterns) in improving performance and overcoming
injury.
